Godzilla VS Cloverfield [PHOTO]? 2014 Action Figure Reveals Similar Designs After Mysterious Muto Glimpse In SXSW Film Trailer!

As the 2014 "Godzilla" movie looms closer, a new action figure toy set has some fans thinking that perhaps the Muto monster is one we've seen before…

Recently, Dread Central uploaded a series of photos of the 2014 "Godzilla" Destruction Toy Set, which includes not only Godzilla, but the mysterious Muto monster.

Although the design lacks the detail to tell for certain, it bears some resemblance to the 2008 "Cloverfield" monster.

In addition, 2014 "Godzilla" director previewed some never-before-seen footage from the movie at the 2014 SXSW, where Muto was also described as similar to the Cloverfield monster.

"We return to the Honolulu airport just as the power is being restored to the tram. The crowd on the train has a brief moment of relief before all awesome holy hell breaks loose," writes Nerdist contributoe Brian Walton regarding the footage.

"The tram is thrown from its tracks by a massive Kaiju that stylistically looks like a combination of a mosquito and the 'Cloverfield' monster. It looks like this is the creature the government had a bead on over the radio."

What we do know is that Muto is not another kaiju from the Godzilla canon like Mothra or Bagan. However, could the 2014 "Godzilla" actually be hinting at a massive (literally) crossover between the Big Bad and the "Cloverfield" monster?

Right now it seems like the designs are similar, but could be original still. Only time will tell when the movie opens in theaters May 16.
