X-Men Days Of Future Past Michael Fassbender Could Have Been In Star Wars Episode 7 Cast If It Wasn’t For ‘Girls’ Actor Adam Driver

It has previously been reported that X-Men Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender would be included in J.J. Abrams Star Wars Episode 7 cast.

Despite Walt Disney's attempt to keep things under wrap as far as Star Wars Episode 7 cast rumors are concerned, the press has its way of getting the news from the stars themselves.

The latest is that J.J. Abrams has just gotten his first villain on the film, 'Girls' actor Adam Driver is said to be in final negotiations to star on the film in a role that has yet to be confirmed, but according to Variety it's going to be a villain role. A role that could have played by X-Men Days of Future past star Michael Fassbender.

Though, Lucasfilm nor Disney has neither confirmed or denied the rumors, people close to the actor has expressed their excitement about the news.

Lena Dunham, Driver's co-actor, who plays his girlfriend from "Girls" has just tweeted her congratulations to the actor:

"We're VERY proud of Adam Driver re: Star Wars. He's about to rip a hole in da force. Is that a thing? I guess I should see those movies?"

However, Dunham tried to take back her revelation through a follow up Tweet:

"I confirm nothing bc I know nothing bc I'm on a plane with my dad! I just like Adam more than almost anyone, and JJ Abrams a whole lot too."

Rumor has it that Driver has beaten out X-Men Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender and The Matrix's Mr. Smith, Hugo Weaving for the role.

Meanwhile, Abrams and the rest of the crew are all set for the filming, which will begin this May, website HitFix reports that the space saga film will start shooting in May until September.

"That's the current plan," Abrams admitted during the recently concluded Television Critics Association winter press tour. "We have our script and we're full steam ahead. Have script, will travel."

In addition, news came in that the casting for Star Wars Episode 7 is "almost complete," with names include Gary Oldman, Zac Efron and Judi Dench in the line up.

Meanwhile, "RoboCop" actor Gary Oldman, confirming the news that the creators of Star Wars Episode 7 have contacted him.

"They've called," said Oldman. "I don't know if its, er ... You know, I'm more cynical about it now. I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but yeah, they've inquired. I mean Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter, Batman and Star Wars ... bloody hell!"

He did not reveal what role he's supposed to portray though. It can be remembered that when George Lucas developed "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," Oldman was linked in the film, saying that he would voice General Grievous.

He however, had to turn down the role in respect to Screen Actors Guild's rule to which he is a member.

"Gary was excited and looking forward to working on the film. The snag is that the movie is being made without members of the Screen Actor's Guild," his rep explained that time. "It means Gary would have been working illegally overseas. Out of respect and solidarity with the other members, he could not and would not consider violating the rules of his union."

Meanwhile, "High School Musical" star Zac Efron was asked by MTV regarding his involvement with J.J. Abrams' project, and much to fans delight he answered: "Yeah, I just went and met with them. So I don't know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars movies], I love them, but... who knows?"

Well he could very well be playing Han Solo's son in the movie, knowing that the team has been looking for a young guy to play the role.

Carrie Fisher, has also revealed to TV Guide that she will be back for Episode 7 to reprise her role as Princess Leia, although this isn't the first time for the veteran Star Wars actress to claim such news.

Fisher revealed that she together with two other veteran actors Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are getting ready for the filming on March or April, as the script has just recently been finished.

Both Ford and Hamill will be back to reprise their respective roles on the film, Ford as Han Solo while Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

"I'd like to wear my old hairstyle again, but with white hair" Fisher admitted to TV Guide, referring to Leia's iconic cinnamon bun hairdo.

"I think that would be funny," she quipped.

As far as Star Wars Episode 7 cast rumors go, the return of the three veteran actors on the film, are the most likely to become a reality, as it has previously been reported that this episode would focus on Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, before they'll be given a proper send off.

With the film scheduled for release on December 18 next year, it's most likely that we'll be getting more revelations on the plot and casting of the film.
