Lea Michele On Cory Monteith’s Death: ‘Glee’ Actress To See Late Boyfriend One Last Time On Big Screen As He Plays Troubled Teen Role In ‘McCanick’

It might have been eight months since Cory Monteith's death but the 31-year-old actor has a final gift for those who love him - his film 'McCanick'. This coming Friday, Monteith will be seen onscreen in the crime mystery.

As per MSN, the movie's synopsis reads:

"Veteran narcotics detective Eugene "Mack" McCanick (David Morse) tracks a young ex-con named Simon Weeks (Cory Monteith), who knows the dark truth about the cop's past. To everyone but McCanick, it appears that Weeks has paid his debt to society. Meanwhile, McCanick remains convinced otherwise. Now, over the course of one sweltering day in the city, McCanick and his partner Floyd (Mike Vogel) will go behind the back of the chief of police (Ciarán Hinds) in order to catch Weeks. All the while, the truth about Weeks, and the secret he harbors, slowly comes to light."

Monteith will be playing the role of troubled teen Simon Weeks who resorted to using drugs. Lea Michele's boyfriend sported long locks in the film. As per director Josh Waller, Monteith insisted to play the role for he wanted to do something which he was able to experience in real life.

"In my mind, I was envisioning a teeny little drug guy, but Cory Monteith is this tall, strapping man. But when I met with him, he wanted to do it so badly. He was very vocal about his past, and said he wanted to tap into things from his youth that he hadn't been able to use as an actor yet," he told Los Angeles Times.

The late actor did not hide his battles with substance usage. As a teen, he confessed that he would take "anything and everything". Months before his passing away, he had just completed a stint in rehab.

'McCanick' will officially hit theater screens on March 21.
