Ggotjam Project is a duo showcasing up-and-coming vocalist Kim Ji and seasoned producer GeoJung.

While there doesn't appear to be very much backstory for either artist, what we do know is that GeoJung is also part of Horan of Clazziquai's side project, Ibadi.

Ibadi hasn't seen a release since the earlier part of 2011, so perhaps this played out perfectly for GeoJung.

Ggotjam Project released their first official music video, "Summer," earlier this month.

This is the seasonal track we all need to slow down with. Winter seems to be straggling in many parts of the world. "Summer" offers a warm and welcoming solace from that.

The song was initially released for the popular K-drama "Can We Love?" and fits well with the theme of lighthearted romance.

Kim Ji's vocals are sweet and steady, but have a certain wispy quality that make me wonder if they'll hold out till the end. The duo keeps it simple, with a guitar and vocals combination that I'm seeing more and more every day.

The Ggotjam Project acoustic sound that I've come to love was executed very well in this track. The music video, unfortunately, is another story.

The director went with a color palate of pink and slightly sepia toned hues. There was also the occasional use of random imagery flitting into the screen. I can see what they were trying to go for. But their attempt at something quirky and cute fell a bit short.

For much of the music video, the director avoids focusing on Kim Ji's face.

It's sort of hazy. And I hate to say it, but from a distance, she doesn't stand out. That's not to say that we should focus on her appearance and not her talent. But as a brand new artist, this is her introduction. We should be able to get a look at her.

Musically speaking, increasing the pace of "Summer" would have done wonders. Up the tempo a bit and you'd find me hitting replay, rather than looking for the next song to listen to.

I do hope this duo makes it beyond the sea of Korean artists who debut every year. Kim Ji has a voice that is very Carla Bruni-esque and I really love it. But in order to stand out, she might have to show a bit more range.
