Mission Impossible 5 is definitely a go, but so as Top Gun 2 movie! See any problem with that? Well, those movies are definitely great, However, both films will star Tom Cruise as the lead character.

It's nearly three decades after Top Gun has been released in theaters and since then the much awaited sequel has been touted for, but to no avail.

Top Gun 2 movie almost made it to theaters earlier, but was placed on hold on August 2012 following the death of director Tony Scott, which nearly scrapped the movie entirely.

Jerry Bruckheimer who will be producing Top Gun 2 movie has recently confirmed that the second installment to the blockbuster hit way back in 1986 has now resumed.

"We're at a point right now where everybody wants to make it," Bruckheimer revealed to IndieWire.

"For a while it was Tom was excited about it but the studio didn't want to commit or the studio was excited and Tom didn't want to do it. And that's been going on for 30 years. And now we're at a point where the studio is excited and Tom is excited," he added

He continued: "A lot of that has to do with Tony [Scott's] vision. He had a really exciting vision and he got everybody excited about it. That enthusiasm [has] carried forward."

Bruckheimer also revealed that Jack Reacher writer Christopher McQuarrie is no longer on board for the screenplay, as he is focusing on the fifth installment of another Tom Cruise film, Mission Impossible.

However, Top Gun 2 movie release date is reportedly in top priority according to Paramount's Head of Production Adam Goodman.

"We'll likely make a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise first. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We've hired Peter Craig to write the script."

On the other hand, Mission Impossible 5 is having some legal problems with it as, Timothy Patrick McLanahan, accuses the 2011 hit film Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol for "illegally" using his 1998 script Head On for the film, and he is now seeking $1 Billion in damages.

The screenwriter filed a case against Cruise, Paramount Pictures and some other production companies last December 2013.

Star Wars Episode 7 director J.J. Abrams and Julie Smythe were among the 13 defendants from McLanahan's complain.

"Because the Ghost Protocol film generated close to $1bn, I am asking for this amount in damages," said McLanahan acquired from the court papers.

However, such allegations were already refuted by "Mission Impossible 5" actor Tom Cruise's lawyers saying:

"Tom Cruise has never stolen anything from anyone," adding that the complain will be "quickly dismissed".

Meanwhile, "Oblivion" Star Tom Cruise is all set for the fifth installment of his hit franchise "Mission Impossible."

Mission Impossible 5 release date will be on Christmas 2015, and for the whole team to reach the goal, the entire cast and crew are getting ready to start shooting in February in UK.

Knowing that the fifth installment of the franchise will be up against some major competitors like the highly anticipated return of sci-fi cult Star Wars: Episode 7, the creators together with the actors are pressured to level up their production and performance.

The fans are about to see "Mission Impossible 5" star Tom Cruise together with his team members Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton reprising their roles in the film. Simon Pegg has also confirmed his return for the Mission Impossible 5.

This year will make J.J. Abrams really busy as he would be directing Star Wars Episode 7 and producing Mission Impossible 5 working hand in hand with Skydance Productions chief David Ellison and Mark Bakshi, Cruise who will be starring in the film is also part of the production.

Christopher McQuarrie on the other hand will be directing the film, which is written by Drew Pearce who penned the hit movie "Iron Man 3."
