Just a matter of hours after announcing their comeback, EXO is a worldwide trending topic on Facebook.

On April 1, SM Entertainment revealed that their popular twelve member boy group EXO will be making a highly anticipated comeback later this month and the news spread through social media platforms like wild fire, becoming one of Facebook's top three trending topics of the day.

Facebook, which recently added the use of hashtags to their site, started sharing trending topics with its users back in January. Now each of the site's 1.3 billion active users can see a list of the day's hottest topics on their personal homepage and view a variety of related articles and posts with a single click.

After confirming through the group's official Facebook page that they would be kicking off new promotional activities on April 15 during a special comeback performance, 'EXO' became one of Facebook's hottest news items - a true testament to the group's worldwide popularity.

"SM Entertainment confirms EXO's comeback. EXO-M and EXO-K to promote separately in China and Korea respectively," read the post on the group's band page.

"SM Entertainment has stated that EXO will begin their comeback activities on April 15 at Jamsil Stadium during 'EXO's Comeback Show' where they will introduce their 2nd mini-album. The showcase will unveil EXO's new title song for the first time," read the news.

The post also included details of the group's partnership with Samsung for the new album promotions and the company is planning to launch several related special events and music services including a live stream broadcast of the comeback showcase through Samsung Music.

With so many people interested in just the announcement of EXO's upcoming new album, users of various social media platforms can probably expect this is not the last they have heard of the popular K-Pop boy band.
