Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: Peter Jackson, Ice Warriors Episode After Premiere Air Date, Plus Peter Capaldi April Fools' Pranks!

As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, spoilers regarding possible future episodes have surfaced.

First, it appears that in addition to four confirmed directors for "Doctor Who" season 8, famed "Lord of the Rings" mastermind Peter Jackson may in fact be joining the series for a directing run.

According to spoilers by DoctorWhoTV, discussions over Peter Jackson directing an episode of "Doctor Who" season 8 are "getting serious." If he is to work on series 8, however, it would probably not be until the end of the season, given that Ben Wheatley, Paul Murphy, Douglas Mackinnon, and Paul Wilmshurst have all signed on for episodes.

Meanwhile, it appears the writers of "Doctor Who" season 8 are slowly being revealed, the latest being a familiar name to all Whovians and "Sherlock" fans.

Mark Gatiss, who not only writes on "Sherlock" and "Doctor Who" but also portrays Mycroft Holmes, will reportedly be writing two episodes of season 8 this time around.

"One of the things which new Doctor Who sort of invented was the idea of a celebrity historical -- Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, Shakespeare. There’s three writers there, so I think Jane Austen stands quite a quite a good chance actually," says Gatiss according to Blastr. "I'm not quite sure what the adventure would be. Maybe an alien posing as Mr. Darcy."

However, spoilers also confirm that Gatiss might be writing a story with the Ice Warriors. So, perhaps Jane Austen meets the Ice Warriors?

Meanwhile, April Fools' Day 2014 brought about a heavy round of "Doctor Who" season 8 rumors amidst the spoilers, and there is one that is particularly polarizing.

In a recent article, Peter Capaldi was hailed to in fact NOT be the Doctor, but that Samuel Anderson aka Danny Pink is the new Doctor.

Fortunately, not many fell for the interesting April Fools' story.
