Robin Thicke, Paula Patton Split Update: ‘Blurred Lines’ Singer’s Dad Alan Plays Marriage Counselor; Juno Awards Pullout Caused By Ban?

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton split has a new update in the form of the "Blurred Lines" singer's "smooth-talking" father playing marriage counsellor. Meanwhile, the singer's pull out from the Juno Awards was apparently due to a ban and not  because he was told to get some "mandatory vocal rest."

According to the report by TVNZ, Alan Thicke has a good chance of doing something about the Robin Thicke and Paula Patton split and that he can help his son "win back his wife."

There's just one problem, as far as credibility goes, Alan Thicke is standing on thin glass, considering the "Growing Pains" actor's two divorces.

One thing that Robin Thicke's father has going for him is that he has already formed a bond with Paula Patton and his grandson Julian, 3.

"Paula adores Alan and he adores her. He admitted he made a mess of his own love life and caused pain for his family with divorces," the insider said. "But he told Paula he believes she and Robin have the strength to get through this and save their union."

A source who talked to National Enquirer, however, is not impressed by this latest Robin Thicke and Paula Patton split update. "It's ironic that Alan's playing marriage counsellor. But he doesn't want his son to make the same mistakes he made," the source added.

Meanwhile, Robin Thicke begged off his performance in the Juno Awards in Canada.

However, the actor was facing backlash even before he could confirm his attendance in Juno Awards.

According to E!, fans have been demanding that the show drop him from the roster. Change.org actually initiated an online petition against Robin Thicke because of his "Blurred Lines" video.

"Despite the blatant sexism, degradation of women and promotion of rape culture in Robin Thicke's song and music video 'Blurred Lines,' Thicke is nominated for three awards-Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, and the JUNO Fan Choice Award-at the upcoming Canadian JUNO Broadcast Awards in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 30, 2014. This is not a song, nor a message, that should be rewarded," the petition, which already gathered nearly 2,000 supporters, read.
