Lee Jun Ki Confirmed For The Lead Role In Upcoming TV Drama 'Joseon Shooter'

Top Korean actor Lee Jun Ki has confirmed his participation in a new television drama due out this summer.

The Joseon Shooter (literal title) is a historical drama set in 19th century during the Joseon dynasty. Lee Jun Ki will take on the lead role of Park Yoon Kang, an expert swordsman who gives up use of his sword for firearms after his father and younger sister are brutally killed.

The historical revenge drama will be the actor's first lead role since last year's action-drama Two Weeks.

The Joseon Shooter is set to premiere in Korea on KBS2 starting in June. The show will air on Wednesday and Thursday nights. It will replace the the time slot occupied by the modern revenge drama Golden Cross which is scheduled to begin this week on April 9.

So far only one other cast member has been officially confirmed for the new series, actor Han Joo Wan who will play the character Kim Ho Kyung.

Lee Jun Ki made landed his first major television role as the cousin of the male lead in 2004's Star's Echo, a drama that was co-produced by MBC in Korea and Japan's Fuji TV. Since then he has gone on to star in several successful television series and movies.

Last December the actor also released a mini-album dedicated to his fans titled My Dear.
