Putin Divorce: All the World's a Matchmaker When It Comes to Russian President Vladimir Putin; Rumors of Affair With Russian Gymnast, Hopes of Hooking Up With Crimea's Cute Crimefighter

Almost a year after announcing their split  at the Grand Kremlin Palace, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila have finalized their divorce. Vladimir Putin officially divorced his wife. Putin's divorce from his wife of 30 years comes a few days after the Russian leader appointed a cute attorney general for Crimean and amid gossip that Putin was having an affair with former Russian Gymnast Alina Kabayeva.

Vladimir and Putina Putin were ranked among the world's most powerful people. Last month, Putin made headlines by annexing Ukraine's Crimea region. A few days ago he made more headlines when he appointed Natalia Poklonskaya as the new top crime-fighter in Crimea. The appointment made Poklonskaya an Internet sensation in Japan. Janapanse fans turned Natalia Poklonskaya, Crimea's newly-appointed attorney general, into an anime star. Fan art has been cropping up by the thousands as adoring Japanese fans are more focused on her looks than politics.

Vladimir Putin is now  Russia's most eligible bachelor. The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin finalized the divorce from his wifes, Lyudmila Putina. The Russian power couple parted last summer after a three-decade marriage. Of course, if Vladimir Putin is lonely after  the divorce from his wife Lyudmila, he could shack up with Ukip leader Nigel Farage. Farage has made several flirtatious commets in the press lately, openly admiring Putin's "operating" style compared to  the "weak and vain" leaders of the European Union.

Putin's divorce confirmation comes after all mentions of Putin's marriage to Lyudmila Putina, 56, were removed from the biography page of his official website. Putin's website now lists only his two daughters as being his family. The Times reports that some Russians have expressed concern that removing Lyudmila from his official biography amounted to a Soviet-style attempt to rewrite history. Reuters notes that Putin, an ex-KGB spy "keeps his personal life private and little is known about his wife and two daughters, both in their 20s."

Putin's personal spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the edits were official. The Putin divorce has now been formalized. Vladimir Putinr's two daughters, Maria and Yekaterina, are both in their 20s. The two women have kept out of public view to such an extent that few in Russia even know what they look like.

There has talk of trouble in Putin's marriage for a number of years. There was talk about Putin's secret relationship with the former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabayeva, 30. Putin denied rumors that he had secretly divorced and was planning to marry the former Olympic gymnast in 2008, but Kabayeva was one of the final six torchbearers at the opening of the Sochi Winter Olympics in February. That was enough to set the gossip off again.

Putin's wife Putina was born Lyudmila Shkrebneva. She met Putin in the early 1980s while they were both studying at the then Leningrad State University. Mrs. Putina is a former stewardess for national carrier Aeroflot.

Vladimir Putin and Lyudmila got married on July 28, 1983. Their first daughter, Maria, born in 1985. Katerina was born in 1986. The power couple's last public appearance together before announcing their divorce last year was at Putin's presidential inauguration in May 2012. Putina has not been seen publicly since.

During their appearance before a TV camera last year, Mr Putin said: "It was a joint decision: we hardly see each other, each of us has our own life."
