Movies & Dramas With The Same Name - Expectations Of Synergy?

Two SBS dramas have to face two movies of the same name in a bizarre coincidence.

SBS drama series "Three Days" and the recently released movie Three Days to Kill have similar names and motifs, while SBS drama "God's Gift - 14 Days" and the movie God's Gift are also similar in a few ways.

Of course, there is no issue of plagiarism on SBS's part - both dramas were written well before the movies came out in theaters. However, it is their similarities that are triggering the interest of the viewers.

"Three Days" and Three Days to Kill both revolve around, as you might have already guessed, a three day time span. In the drama "Three Days," an agent is trying to prevent a presidential assassination that is foreshadowed by three events that happen in three days. In the movie Three Days to Kill, secret agent Ethan is required to do various tasks in three days' time in order to receive a cure for his sickness. Both the movie and the drama are action-packed thrillers.

"God's Gift - 14 Days" is about a mother who witnesses her child's death and receives a chance to prevent it by traveling back in time 14 days. God's Gift is about a woman who desperately wants to be a mother, and a girl who is attempting to abort the baby in her womb. The fact that both movies are about a mother-child relationship is the main similarity between the two.

Although there are accusations of plagiarism, it's an unfounded accusation that really has no credibility. All four stories were written in their inception with their current title.

An SBS producer commented, "While the accusations are unfounded, the two dramas and two movies having similar names are expected to bring about a synergistic relationship between the two. I expect all four pieces to do very well. It's a win-win situation for all four."
