‘Prometheus 2’ Doesn’t Get Some Love From James Cameron? ‘Avatar’ Creator Says Ridley Scott’s Film ‘Didn’t Add Up Logically’

"Prometheus 2" release might be able to push through in 2016 but don't expect some help from James Cameron to rescue the franchise as the "Avatar" creator said that the first Ridley Scott film "didn't add up logically."

"I don't think I have anything to offer on the 'Prometheus' sequels, that's Ridley's, I think I'll stick to the 'Avatar' universe,"James Cameron said during the recent Reddit AMA.

Had James Cameron jumped on board, collaborated with Ridley Scott and if it was true that Sigourney Weaver will join the cast, "Prometheus 2" would have packed serious firepower. Sadly, only one of those three is real.

It must be remembered that Ridley Scott kickstarted the franchise with "Alien" and introducing Ellen Ripley to the world in 1979. Then James Cameron took over when he directed and wrote "Aliens" which was released in 1986 to both commercial and critical success.

This time, on "Prometheus 2" there's no James Cameron and probably no Sigourney Weaver.

When prodded to comment on the first "Prometheus," the director claimed that he thought "it was an interesting film."

"I thought it was thought-provoking and beautifully, visually mounted, but at the end of the day it didn't add up logically. But I enjoyed it, and I'm glad it was made," James Cameron added.

And he even offered some zinger at the end: "I liked it better than the previous two Alien sequels."

It's no secret how James Cameron feels about the succeeding "Alien" after his own "Aliens." In a BBC interview in 2003, in fact, he "hated" the film directed by David Fincher, "Alien 3."

"I hated what they did.... I couldn't stand 'Alien 3' - how they could just go in there and kill off all these great characters we introduced in 'Aliens,' and the correlation between mother and daughter? It stunk," he said.

"Prometheus 2" is initially set for release on March 4, 2016
