Yoon Jong Shin Explains Accidental Tweet Regarding Media Coverage Of Sewol Ferry Tragedy

As media outlets continue to cover the tragic news of the Jeju Island-bound ferry that capsized on Wednesday leaving the fate of hundreds of passengers unknown, the very nature of the news reports has come under question regarding sensitivity of the media.

That said, there are also many Korean celebrities and well-known public figures who have not only added their two cents on the matter, but who have also donated huge sums of money and their personal time to aid in the relief efforts.

However, popular singer and producer Yoon Jong Shin, may have accidentally overstepped some boundaries. It seems the celeb accidentally retweeted a message that he had no intention of sharing.

"To give an example of how important the media is, don't you think that the students, who were rescued during the initial stages of the ferry sinking, are eve more traumatized and bewildered from watching the media's report of the images and footage relating to the rescue of their friends? Please be more cautious," read the initial tweet at about 1am KST on April 19.

What some may say is a valid point, an hour later the tweet was removed and Yoon Jong Shin sent out another message to his followers. "There was a post that was retweeted, but I did not do it. It has been deleted," he wrote, then added, "42 minutes ago, I didn't even touch my cell phone. Hmm... I felt careful and difficult about saying anything, so I was not able to follow tweets or even the news. By all means, I hope this was just my mistake."

Yoon Jong Shin has since explained again that it was not his intention to originally retweet the post and suggested that either is was a mistake on his part, or the less likely scenario that his account was hacked.
