South Korea Ferry Death Toll Hits 64 As Families Worry About Decomposing Bodies And 240 Remain Missing: 'Sewol' Captain And Four More Arrested For 'Murderous' Actions

The death toll of the sunken South Korea ferry rose to 64 as of Sunday, with 240 still missing.

According to TIME, divers continue to have difficulty entering the "Sewol" due to low visibility, weather, and strong currents. However, on late Saturday, diverse discovered 13 additional bodies along with several more floating near the boat.

The South Korea ferry Captain has been arrested, with four additional detained for "unforgivable" and "murderous" actions.

Fox News reports that the captain and crew "told the passengers to stay put but they themselves became the first to escape, after deserting the passengers."

The "unimaginable act" by the crew is believed to be the primary reason for such a high death toll, with 240 still missing out of the 476 passengers.

Reportedly, family members have been tasked with identifying the bodies with clues such a hoodies, fingernail and toenail colors, and braces.

Hundreds of family members are protesting the rescue efforts, blaming the South Korea government for the ferry tragedy.

"We want an answer from the person in charge about why orders are not going through and nothing is being done," said Lee Woon-geun, father of 17-year-old missing passenger Lee Jung-in. "They are clearly lying and kicking the responsibility to others."

"After four or five days, the body starts to decay. When it's decayed, if you try to hold a hand, it might fall off. I miss my son. I'm really afraid I might not get to find his body."
