Ansan Valley Rock Festival Canceled This Year

The Ansan Valley Rock Festival staff announced that they will cancel their annual festival this year to join the grief of the victims of the Sewol sinking.

The director of CJ E&M's music branch stated: "We don't believe it is right for us to hold a music festival in times of national grief. The city of Ansan has also been declared a disaster region; we are aware of the negative consequences and loss to our festival and image, but the nation's pain should be prioritized above all".

CJ E&M had already set the lineup for 10 foreign bands and 30 Korean bands before they announced the festival's cancellation.

Ansan Valley Rock Festival staff stated that the 40 bands agreed and expressed sympathy for our situation: "We apologize to any music fans that may have been waiting for our festival. We will join in the grief of the people of Ansan city".

Ansan Valley Rock Festival also stated, "We're still waiting for a miracle, praying for the safe return of the missing. We will return with a more perfect festival next year".
