‘Thor 3' Plot Spoilers: Loki To Start War Between Asgard And Earth? Third Movie To Take A Darker Tone! 'Three-quel' Will Rock The Marvel Cinematic Universe!

"Thor 3" is a confirmed project, but not much else has been said. With the box office and critical success of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" there are clues as to how the next chapter in the saga of the Thunder god will be presented.

Marvel-Disney has long term plans to make all their movies a success and in the introductory movies, it was clear that Captain America was at the low point while Iron Man was sturdy enough to carry itself behind the magnificence of Robert Downey, Jr. It seems like Marvel had a plan to augment the fan following for Captain America with the sequels.

In the next series of movies released 2013-2014, Captain America was given a central role and the events in the movie marked the direction of how the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe will go forward. One of its stars, the outspoken Anthony Mackie even commented that "The Winter Soldier" was like a semi-sequel to Marvel's super hero team movie. From Moviefone:

"This movie, 'Captain America,' has kind of become 'Avengers 1.5'; if you look at the cast they've put together, if you look at the number of characters that are in this movie. I mean, it's a huge number of superheroes and characters."

With Captain America given its day in the sun, expect Thor to be at the forefront of the next series of sequels. While "Thor: The Dark World" was more of a solo feature sans any appearance of the Avengers and the events being self-contained (except for the Aether being handed to the Collector), the next installment will rock the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The pieces are all in place: Loki sits on the throne of Asgard and Thor is chilling with Jane Foster on Earth. With all the resources of Asgard at his disposal, Loki can mount a stronger attack on Earth as he did in the Avengers!

Why would Loki do that? The end credits scene of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" teased Baron Von Strucker wielding Loki's scepter, and this is central to the plot of "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The scepter is suspected to contain one of the Infinity Stones/Gems that are the focal point of the long term development of the MCU. It is quite logical that Loki would want it back. There are higher stakes now as Thor would also want to avenge the throne.

These motivations will build up the tension and raise the stakes of the battle. These elements were notoriously absent in "Thor: The Dark World." A final face-off between the brothers (not by blood, though) would be a worthy climax to the Thor trilogy.

This scenario will give the Marvel fans what they want with the Thor movies: Loki as the central villain. Tom Hiddleston's popularity as the Master of Mischief was unexpectedly high and the reception stronger than any other villain that was introduced.

Are you excited for a final Thor-Loki Face-off?
