Girls' Generation (SNSD), First Korean Group To Be A 'Million Seller'
Girls’ Generation set a new record in Japan.
According to Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) on June 9 it was reported Girls’ Generation’s 1st Japanese studio album ‘Girls’ Generation’ released June of last year has been 'million' certified.
This accomplishment is the very first for a Korean girl group to achieve this mark. The only other artist to have achieved this is solo singer BoA back in 2005. Girls’ Generation has set a meaningful achievement following the footsteps of BoA.
Girls Generation became the fourth artist to obtain number 1 spot on Oricon’s weekly album chart after BoA, TVXQ and Big Bang. However became the first Korean girl group to reach number 1 on Oricon weekly album chart. Also set a record for ‘recording the highest sales of the FIRST album as a foreign artist in Japan.
Girls’ Generation is to release their 4th Japanese single ‘PAPARAZZI’ on June 27 and is expected to kick off their promotional activities in Japan soon.
