Much More Than The A-B-C: AlphaBAT Successfully Holds First Showcase In Malaysia
When was the last time you're singing a nursery rhyme? A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J... Hold your thoughts there! We're not bringing you to reminisce your days in the kindergarten- but instead a rookie K-pop group who named themselves AlphaBAT has recently touched down in Malaysia and successfully held their first overseas showcase on 26th April in Johore and 27th April at The Summit USJ, Subang.
AlphaBAT comprised of 9 members with each member carried a unique stage name started with these Latin Roman alphabets: B:eta, C:ode, D:elta, E:psilon, F:ie, G:amma, H:eta, I:ota and J:eta. If you ever wondered where is 'A', this alphabet is spared for their fans name, Alpha. Not only that, as unique as the group's name, this 9-membered group also holds an audition to search for the next member in order to complete their 'alphabets set'-the first ever K-pop star hunt to be held by any Korean idols.
Prior to the showcase, an opening performance by a cute female group, Bubble Candies pumped up the event with their energetic dance performance to GI's (지아이) GI-YEUK (ㄱ). The showcase then kicked off with a beautiful rendition of DBSK's Love In The Ice sang by the boys. They continued to serenade the audience with their very own ballad entitled Always. This song was special and dearly to them as it was written as a dedication to their fans, Alpha. With powerful ballads as a starter, AlphaBAT proved that they also possessed an impeccable vocal quality that soothed the listener's ear.
The glow of happiness totally written all over the AlphaBAT members face throughout the showcase. They enjoyed interacting with the fans and actively participating in a game session where the boys chose 9 lucky fans to be partnered with them in the game. They were grouped in pairs to form a group of 3 and they need to transfer a rubber band using a straw within 2 minutes. Such a simple game indeed! But, wait until you saw the reaction from the audience as the funny interaction between the members and the chosen fans totally gave a different vibe as screamed of jealousy could be heard surrounding the venue. Each fan who participated in the game received a handmade soap by the members as a token of appreciation while the winners bagged home an AlphaBAT album.
After an entertaining and fun-filled game session, AlphaBAT once again took the center stage and performed another cover by INFINITE Nothing Over and B2ST's Fiction. They wrapped up the showcase with their debut song AB City before ended it with their new comeback single, Dandara (딴따라). Before biding farewell, there were also autograph and group photo sessions exclusively for the pass holders.
Earlier, the audition to hunt for the next member of AlphaBAT was held as 10 contestants showcased an impressive performance to woo the judges- from singing to dancing and even rapping. One contestant prepare a unique and stylish percussion performance while two power vocals in the house seems to have a vocal battle with their very own flavour of Kim Bum Soo's Bogoshipda and Super Junior Yesung's Gray Paper. The bar has been raised to a higher level as crowd's favourite gave a tough fight as he mesmerized the audience with his melodious vocal and powerful dance skill. The overzealous response from the crowds earned him a nod from the judges too. Is he the one that they have been looking for? Let's find out very soon!
With an amazing performance, coupled with tonnes of fan services, AlphaBAT is definitely not your average A-B-C group as they evolved into alpha human and ready to add more colours in the Korean music industry.
