G.O.D - 3 Reasons Their Comeback Strategy Won’t Fail

In 12 years, the 5 members of G.O.D are getting together, and causing a big impact on the music industry, stirring up old emotions.

G.O.D released their new song "The Lone Duckling" on the 8th, and in just one hour it took the number 1 spot across 9 music charts. This is a feat difficult for even the most popular singer nowadays. In 2 hours it took an all kill across 10 music charts, and demonstrated an even hotter responses than most groups nowadays.

It's already been 15 years since the group first debuted. For the past 9 years the member have been pursuing individual activities. With this comeback they demonstrated that the group is still ‘hot,' and ever welcome in the music world.

G.O.D's Music Is Still The Same

"The Lone Duckling" isn't very different from the kind of music they did with Park Jin Young during their prime. It starts with Yoon Kye Sang's low narration, and advances with Son Ho Young's smooth vocals, Danny An and Park Jun Hyung's clear rap, and Kim Tae Woo's soulful melody.

It's hard to believe that the song belongs to Duble Sidekick, who is currently leading the trend in the hottest girl groups. According to G.O.D, they used their strategy to help recreate old feelings. One rep stated, "From the beginning Duble Sidekick and Kim Tae Woo said ‘Let's go with the G.O.D style.' They worked really hard to express G.O.D's warm feelings."

The fans were hit with an immediate sense of nostalgia. Many of them are welcoming their new song, saying that it's just like before.

Yoon Kye Sang's Joining Not Easy, But Effective

Since it was their first comeback as a five member group in 9 years, it had to be special. Although Yoon Kye Sang folded his G.O.D activities 3 years before the others, he was still considered a member of G.O.D, as far as the public was concerned. When he rejoined the group, there was a sense of completion to the ‘real G.O.D.' While we wouldn't say that Yoon Kye Sang's presence in the group is an absolute must, it is essential to give the impression of the original five member group.

Yoon Kye Sang previously appeared in various dramas and movies, and it wasn't easy to get him to join the group again. G.O.D's reunion had been in discussions since 2 years ago, but the possibility of Yoon Kye Sang rejoining the group wasn't even brought up until very recently. Every time there were reports of G.O.D's reunion, Yoon Kye Sang's side always stated that they were still in discussions.

But once it was determined that he would be joining, the effect was stronger than expected. In the midst of the older fans listening to their music and reminiscing about the past, Yoon Kye Sang's voice was a rare treasure, not as an actor but as a singer.

G.O.D's Healing Music - It's Necessary Right Now

Interestingly enough, G.O.D has had an unusual healing effect with their idol group music. With songs such as "Mother," "Road," and "One Candle," G.O.D has offered messages of encouragement, compassion, and hope to the rest of the nation. They've grown into a national group that offers warm words of encouragement.

Unfortunately, 9 years later today, the public is in need of encouragement. Currently most people are still lost in deep sorrow, anger, and helplessness because of the Sewol disaster that occurred on April 16th. G.O.D's music will be a great comfort to the people of Korea.

Of course, to be sure, this wasn't G.O.D's intention, but we're encouraged by the fact that the group has come back with this song, when comfort was the most needed.
