Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Samsung Galaxy S5 'Prime' Specs Could Be The Best We've Seen In An Android Handset So Far

Upcoming Android phones 2014: Earlier this year, a lot of rumors came up that Samsung is working on a metal Galaxy S5 that would be shouting 'premium' from all angles. The Mobile World Congress has come and gone, and no sign of such Android smartphone came into fruition.

However, a new report from BGR tells us that a retailer seems like a bit too excited to release the premium version of the Galaxy S5.

Dubbed as the Galaxy S5 Prime, the phone has been spotted by SammyToday on Hongkong-based retailer website Price.com.hk, which listed the device and even included a launch date in June. In the report, the Galaxy S5 Prime is said to be an improved version of the smartphone which would make its debut in South Korea.

The site has also confirmed most of the rumored specs which have been making the rounds all over the Web. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is tipped to pack a 5.1-inch display with a whopping QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, a higher-end Snapdragon 805 chipset, quad-core CPU, and 3GB of RAM.

Bearing the model number, SM-G906S, the Galaxy S5 Prime will also boast a 16MP primary camera (probably with OIS as well), and a 2MP front facing cam. The phone will also pack a microSD card slot, and run Android 4.4.2 Kit kat out of the box.

Samsung has long been evading the criticisms it has been getting because of its use of plastic materials for its high-end and flagship devices.

However, it looks like the Korean tech giant is finally making amends and would now launch probably the best Android phone it has ever built. Unfortunately, we do not get a lot of details or hints that the device would hit international stores as well.

Another mystery is the Galaxy S5 Prime's design. Would it get the 'dot matrix' design of the original Galaxy S5?

In a matter of weeks, we'll know the answers to these questions.

By the way, here is the screenshot from Price.com.hk.
