Huawei Ascend P6 Review, Price: Specs Of $300 Android Powered Handset Incl. 1.5GHz Quad-Core Processor, 2GB RAM; Can World’s Ex-Slimmest Smartphone Compete On Value?

Huawei Ascend P6 review, price: Specs of the $300 Android-powered Huawei Ascend P6 includes a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 4.7-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels and an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The unit used to be the world’s slimmest smartphone but was dethroned by the Gionee Elife S5.5.

The specs of the Huawei Ascend P6 make it a budget-friendly handset. But the issue if it can compete on price is a bit far removed since newer and more updated Android running devices are also now in the market. The Nexus 5, which has been hailed for its design, performance and updated OS is priced at $350 for an unlocked unit and the lower end Moto G by Motorola is being sold for $178.

This slim smartphone with a 6.18 mm thickness and an HD display of 1280 x 720 pixels is a true value hit. Add to the fact that the 8 megapixel main camera of the handset can capture macro shots from as close as 4 centimeters. It’s front-facing camera has a powerful 5MP camera that makes for great selfies.

Citing sources from HuaweiNews, February was out of the question for the P6’s KitKat update. According to reports, the roll-out on the Huawei Ascend P6 has been delayed until early March. True to earlier news, the company began rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat OS around the first week of the said month.

G4Games says though that since the Huawei Ascend P6 has been successful internationally, the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Ascend P6 have a global rollout.

A beta KitKat firmware for the Huawei Ascend P6 has been leaked last month and by the time official update becomes available, its possible that a new, more complete firmware will hit the blogosphere.

Huawei Ascend P6 was officially announced in June 2013. According to Phone Arena, the P6 is one of the slimmest smartphone in the market with a thickness of only 6.18 mm. Specs of the device include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch LCD display, 8MP main camera and 2000mAh battery. The unit weighs a mere 120 grams.
