Surface Pro 3 Release Date Could Be On May 20 Alongside Surface Mini, Could Run Intel's Power-Efficient Haswell Chip

Surface Pro 3 release date: Putting it nicely, the two previous Surface tablets from Microsoft were disappointing, As a proud manufacturer, Microsoft will not settle for such performances, and in the upcoming Surface event, the company may release a third generation Surface slate.

According to a report by BGR, several reports are claiming that the Redmond giant will not only unleash one but multiple Surface slates this month.

One of these tablets would be the Surface Mini. In some reports, the 'mini' version should have been released with the original Surface, but unfortunately it did not pan out. Meanwhile, during the same year, Apple launched its first iPad mini, and we all know what happened then.

While in the last couple of years Microsoft has been afraid, this time it looks like the Redmond is once again acting like a 'giant' in the tech industry.

In the report, the Surface mini is said to run on Windows RT which many believed do not fit on a full scale tablet such as the Surface Pro.

On the other hand, the Surface Pro 3 should get the latest Windows 8.1 update which offers new features and functions.

Aside from the updated software, the new Surface Pro 3 release date should be highlighted by a new Intel chipset, probably Intel Haswell, which has been proven to improve battery life of laptops by up to 70-100%.

If this would be the case for the new Surface Pro 3, then expect a lot of consumers from the enterprise market to try this new Microsoft tablet.

A report from CNET also claims that sources are pointing to a May 20 press event for the Surface tablets, and while we cannot still confirm this, at least it gives us hope of more slate options in the coming weeks.
