Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Xperia A2 SO-04F Goes Live In Japan, Packs Identical Specs To Z1 Compact

Upcoming Sony phones 2014: Sony has not been doing good in the US and other markets aside from EU and Japan. However, the Japanese-based manufacturer has been successfuly in keeping its lineup of smartphones updated for its home country.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Sony Xperia A2 SO-04F is now available in Japan through local carrier NTT DoCoMo.

In the report, the device sports identical specs to the Xperia Z1 Compact which was announced at the CES event in Las Vegas, and is offered by T-Mobile in the US.

In case you have missed the CES in January, the Xperia Z1 Compact is obviously a smaller version of the previous Sony flagship, the Xperia Z1.

Aside from the 4.3-inch HD (1280 x 720) resolution display, the Xperia Z1 Compact and the Xperia A2 SO-04F share the same features with the bigger Xperia Z1.

Of course there is a huge benefit in such a smartphone - it csots much less than the bigger handset.

Specs of both the Z1 Compact and A2 SO-04F include a Snapdragon 800 chipset, quad-core CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, and a 20.7MP Exmor R primary camera. The phone also has a 2,300mAh battery which provides decent power endurance for the rest of the day.

While Sony Mobile is certainly doing well in its home country, it should work more on expanding its market in order to achieve more sales milestones, which in turn would provide a larger income. But as it mentioned in a press conference several months back, the company only wants to specialize and strengthen its grip on its strongest markets.

Are you a fan of this strategy by Sony? Do you think it will stand a chance against other Android OEMs in the long run? Share with us what you think in the comments section below.
