Lenovo Chromebook 2014: N20 & N20P Are Company’s Latest Line Of Chrome OS Powered Machines; Specs Incl. 11.6-inch Displays, 4GB RAM

Lenovo Chromebook 2014: Lenovo Chromebook’s have new variants and the company that ZDNet called the “laptop king” has unveiled the Lenovo N20 and Lenovo N20P. Displays of both units can bend back 300 degrees.

Specs of the new Lenovo Chromebooks include an 11.6-inch display, 4GB RAM, 1MP web camera and up to 16GB in internal storage. The N20 and N20P weigh 2.8 lbs and 3.1 lbs, respectively. ZDNet notes that peripherals for the units include 2 x USB ports, audio in/out, HDMI-out, and a 2-in-1 (SD/MMC) card reader. Both Chromebooks have Intel Celeron processors and can last up to eight hours on a fully charged battery.

Dimensions of both models are 295 mm x 212 mm x 17.9 mm (11.6 in x 8.34 in x 0.70 in). The tech site noted that Lenovo is latest major laptop maker to bring Chromebooks to the consumer market. Shrinking sales of Windows laptop, Lenovo’s main product line, could possibly be the reason for the move.

The new N20P Chromebook bears similar design of a Lenovo Windows laptop but with a touch screen interface. The display of the N20P can be rotated back to allow it to form a stand, or tent mode. The unit, unlike the Yoga 11e Chromebook, does not bend all the way back to form a tablet.

The N20 Chrome is the cheaper counterpart of the N20P, but without the touch operation and the flexible display. The N20 Chrome will be available from Lenovo beginning July for an entry-level price of $279. The N20P will be available by August starting at $329.

SlashGear noted that the new Chromebooks are solid additions to Lenovo’s Chromebook range. Advances in the flexibility of the Chrome OS and the appeal of a fast-boot experience and more useful apps make the platform suitable for casual users.

As a leading provider of Ultrabooks, Lenovo is upping the ante of its Chromebook offerings with these two new machines.
