Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Xperia M2 Hits UK Market, Packs 4.8" Display, Quad-Core CPU, 1GB RAM, Costs £210 Unsubsidized

Upcoming Sony phones 2014: Announced back in January, we have almost forgotten all about the Xperia M2 which is Sony's first midrange device this year. Now, the Android-powered smartphone is finally available in the UK.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Sony Mobile in the UK has announced the availability of the Sony Xperia M2 in several carriers and retailers in the country.

The smartphone will be available in both online and brick-and-mortar stores, including those of Everything Everywhere which offers the phone for free starting at £24 a month. There is also an option to get it in only £19 per month, given that the consumer is willing to pay the £20 upfront.

Sony and Android fans who will get the Xperia M2 via EE will not be disappointed as the carrier will include 500MB worth of LTE data, 500 minutes of calls and unlimited texts.

Meanwhile, if you want to get the Sony handset unsubsidized, you may want to check out UK retailer Clove UK that offers the Xperia M2 at £210, which is already a good deal for consumers. On the other hand, Carphonewarehouse has listed the Sony phone to start shipping to Vodafone, and TalkMobile, and EE beginning tomorrow.

In case you missed CES 2014 in Las Vegas during Sony's press launch, here are some specs you may want to check out about the Xperia M2.

The Android handset boasts midrange specs including a 4.8-inch display with qHD (960 x 540) resolution, 1GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU running at 1.2GHz, a Snapdragon 400 SoC, and an 8GB of built in storage.

Other specs include a microSD card slot, an 8MP primary camera, and a 2,300mAh battery. During the announcement it was tipped to launch with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but because it is just today that it was officially available in the UK, it could have been upgraded to Kitkat right away.
