Sony VAIO Flip 15 Review: Specs Of 15-inch Convertible Incl. Intel iCore i7 Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive; Well Designed, Has Great Performance

Sony VAIO Flip 15 review: Specs of the 15-inch convertible, Sony VAIO Flip 15, are notably high-end. Features of the touchscreen laptop include an Intel iCore i7 processor, 8GB RAM and 1 TB of hard-drive. The Sony VAIO Flip 15 is powered by a Microsoft Windows 8 operating system and also has an Intel HD 4400 graphics processor.

Engadget notes that the Sony VAIO Flip 15 is a part of the Flip series of convertibles that bears an innovative design and represents the crème dela crème of Sony’s laptop hardware offerings. The lid and deck of the unit is made of aluminum, the keyboard is backlit, and the familiar diamond-cut logo sits on the back of the unit.

According to CNET, the Sony VAIO Flip 15 has a slim, powerful and sharp looking design. The 15-inch hybrid also works great in laptop mode. Similar to what the Engadget commented, the VAIO Flip 15 has a high-end feel to it. It's feel of being a top-of-the class product is thanks to its silver-and-black aluminum body and backlit keyboard.

The unit is Sony’s innovative attempt at a big-screen hybrid and it looks great for its price. It works better as a laptop than a tablet though.

An Endgadget review cites the 15-inch notebook as rather bulky for a convertible. It could also be awkward to use in tablet mode, even when it’s resting on your lap. CNET says that the battery life of the unit could be better and screen is especially glossy in some cases.

Overall, the convertible for its price delivers value, but it serves well as a laptop replacement than an addition to your array of tablets. The Sony VAIO Flip line of convertibles is also available in 14-inch and 13-inch screens.

A quick look at Amazon.com shows the Sony VAIO Flip 15 available for around $1,645.
