'Flappy Bird' Return Date: New 'Less Addictive' Flappy Bird Version With Multiplayer Mode Coming In August

Flappy Bird Return Date: The world has been going through "Flappy Bird" withdrawal since it was yanked from the market. But the mobile game creator confirmed in an interview that Flappy Bird will be made available in mobile app stores this August.

The Flappy Bird return date was announced by developer Dong Nguyen on CNBC. The Flappy Bird creators said that not only would the Flappy Bird game re-launch this summer, but that the new version of Flappy Bird would also come with multi-player functionality. Nguyen took to Twitter in March to confirm that the game would eventually return, but there was no date for the Flappy Bird release at that time.

According to a tweet from Kelly Evans at CNBC "Flappy Bird's Dong Nguyen: Flappy Bird is coming back. Multiplayer. August."

Nguyen told Evans "I think people should spend time doing something more productive."

During a March interview in Rolling Stone magazine Nguyen said he had plans to bring back Flappy Bird. He also explained why he deleted the game in the first place. Nguyen was worried about the addictive nature of the Flappy Bird game. He was worried that people put their lives on hold to play more Flappy Bird.

Nguyen says the new Flappy Bird will be "less addictive".

Before it was pulled in February, Flappy Bird dominated the top charts on iTunes and Google Play.  Nguyen didn't offer too many details on why he pulled the app, but tweeted "I cannot take this anymore".

With over 50 million downloads for Flappy Bird, it will be interesting to see if the demand is still there not that it will be restored.

No specific date has been given for the Flappy Bird return. If you want to download the original, there are sites that you can find through search engines.
