Upcoming Android Phones 2014: The Vertu Signature Touch Performs Better Than Nexus 5, Shows Up In AnTuTu Benchmark

Upcoming Android phones 2014: Back in the day when Nokia was the dominant brand and Blackberry's QWERTY keypad is the best in the business, another mobile manufacturer was known for its insanely expensive mobile phones with low-end specifications and features.

But there was always a catch - buyers would get to choose among the different precious and expensive materials to be used for the phone's design and build.

And because the trend nowadays is the touch screen, British manufacturer Vertu is able to play catch up, and is reportedly working on Android-powered smartphone.

Dubbed as the Vertu Signature Touch, the device has recently appeared on the popular benchmarking app, AnTuTu Benchmark. As usual, the benchmark managed to get as much info and details possible about the device.

In the specs list, the Vertu Signature Touch is certainly a move away from the company's previous low-end spec'd handsets. But knowing the mobile manufacturer, pricing should still be pretty high due to the materials used for the body.

In the report, the Signature Touch packs a Full HD (1920 x 1080) display resolution, 2GB of RAM, a slightly outdated Snapdragon 800 chipset, a quad-core CPU running at 2.3GHz, and 16GB of build in memory.

If you have been around since 2003, you may have noticed the 'Signature' branding which Vertu popularized through the years.

Other specs include a 13MP primary camera, a 2MP front shooter and the latest version of Android, 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box. In the tests in AnTuTu's benchmark, the Signature Touch faired well against current flagships, placing third behind the HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5, and the Sony Xperia Z2.

Interestingly, Vertu's flagship smartphone overtook LG's Nexus 5 which also packs a 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 800 SoC.

While these specs are promising, we are expecting the Vertu Signature Touch to become anything but cheap.
