Moto 360 Smartwatch: Motorola Officially Joins Wearable War In July, New Smartwatch Costs A Hefty €249

Moto 360 smartwatch: Sony started it a couple of years back, and then the Japanese manufacturer unleashed a new version last year together with Samsung's first Galaxy Gear. The Korean tech giant has now launched several more which target different consumer groups, and now both LG and Motorola area gearing for the release of its own smartwatches.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered device has been teased in a promo image, and would possibly be launched at Google's I/O event in June.

Among all smartwatches developed by world-renowned brands, only Motorola opted for a circular design, and we certainly have nothing against it. The screen looks good from the promo image, and does its primary function well - tell time.

In the report, the Moto 360 could hit the market in July, which is pretty close to the unveiling of Samsung's Gear 2 which runs on Tizen OS. While the Motorola device cannot take photos or make calls directly from the device, it allegedly works better with Android OS in terms of features and functions.

In the image, the Moto 360 comes with only a single button at the side, and we can just wonder how the consumer would be able to fully navigate the device's features with just that one button. Unless of course, the entire LCD is touch-screen enabled.

Aside from the more stylish look, the Moto 360 is also said to come with additional bands with different colors, another way to customize your device. Currently, the only downside we can see from the smartwatch is the somewhat hefty €249 price tag.

In comparison, LG's upcoming LG G Watch would only cost €199.

So which manufacturer do you think would take home the 'best wearable device' trophy? Sony and Samsung have been working and improving their devices for the past couple of years so they certainly have an edge. However, LG and Motorola are highlighting unique designs for their own devices.

And how about the rumored Apple iWatch? We'll have our answer in the following months.
