Apple Vs. Samsung: Cupertino-Based Company Dismisses Korean Manufacturer As Supplier For iPhone's Display, Chooses Innolux Instead

Apple vs. Samsung: For many years, Apple and Samsung have battled it out both in and out of the court. In fact, for the past couple of years, both manufacturers have been slugging it out in the mobile industry as well, with Samsung getting the biggest pie in market share, while Apple enjoys the pedestal in terms of overall income.

However, in spite the wars, Apple and Samsung have continued working in terms of supplies, especially for the Cupertino manufacturer's iPhones and iPads.

This year alone, Samsung has supplied more than half of the current iPad 4 displays for the first quarter of this year. However, it looks like Apple wants to limit Samsung' share in its success.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Apple has dismissed Samsung as its display supplier for the upcoming iPhone 6.

Previously, the Cupertino giant has been choosing among Samsung, Sharp and Innolux as to which manufacturer would provide the parts for what could be the top-selling smartphone when it goes official later this year.

Initially, Apple took Sharp out of the picture because of some issues in the screen panels it has produced. On the other hand, Apple also opted not to choose Samsung because the company considers the Korean manufacturer as too much of a direct competitor to be a part of such a promising project such as the iPhone 6.

So the only supplier that is left is Innolux, a top notch touch screen manufacturer and has been developing screens for TVs, desktop monitors, laptops and notebooks, and mobile phones since 2003.

Innolux will handle a third of the total display production for the upcoming iPhone. The first two-third fraction of the supply will be handled by Japan Display and LG Display.

Now that Apple's display suppliers for the new iPhone are all set, we can only wait and see what the Cupertino giant has in store for all of us.
