WATCH: Six Iranians Arrested For Posting THIS Fan Video Of Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy' For Offending ‘Public Morals,' Tehran Police Chief Says

Six Iranians were arrested for making a fan video of Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' because they reportedly offended "public morals." Watch the YouTube video here!

Tehran Police Chief Hossein Sajedinia ordered the arrests of the three men and three women in the video because they helped make an "obscene video clip that offended the public morals and was released in cyberspace," the Iranian Students' News Agency reported Wednesday, according to CNN.

Sajedinia said the "vulgar clip" had "hurt public chastity," Billboard reports.

The hashtag #FreeHappyIranians has started trending on Twitter, as the protest goes viral.

Pharrell Williams himself responded to the arrests in Iran based on his hit song "Happy."

"It is beyond sad that these kids were arrested for trying to spread happiness," the Grammy Award winner said on his Facebook page.

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani posted a message on Twitter that seemed to align him with the young Pharrell Williams fans: "#Happiness is our people's right. We shouldn't be too hard on behaviors caused by joy." 29/6/2013," he wrote.

According to CNN, Iran legally requires women to wear head scarves; however, the three women in the video were not covered. The video shows the three men and women dancing in the streets and homes of Tehran

One of the six Iranians arrested recently took to Instagram to announce her release from jail.

"Hi I'm back thank you @pharrell and everyone who cared about us love you all so much and missed you so much," Reihane Taravati, a woman who said she helped make the fan project, wrote on Instagram, CNN reports.
