Upcoming ZTE Phones 2014: New Flagship Packs 5" Display, iPhone-Like Design, Fingerprint Scanner, Octa-Core CPU

Slowly but surely, the upcoming ZTE phones for 2014 make the Chinese manufacturer a decent choice for Android smartphones which are slightly more affordable than similarly spec'd devices from other well known companies like Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the phone maker will soon launch its newest flagship, dubbed as the ZTE Nubia Z7. While there are no official specs yet for the device, some rumored specs reveal that the Android handset could potentially rival the LG G3 when it sees the light of day in the coming weeks.

In the report, the Nubia Z7 is tipped to get a 5-inch display with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution screen, a Snapdragon 805 chipset, 3GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.

Thankfully, ZTE released a number of teaser images to give us a glimpse of the smartphone's design and build.

From what we can see, the smartphone has an iPhone-like feel to it - from the slightly rounded edge, to the metallic frame around the device which holds the power button as well as other ports.

During the years, Chinese phone manufacturers have been often noted for releasing devices with similar designs with the iPhone. In fact, another Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is dubbed as the Apple of China not only due to its impressive sales performance, but the striking similarities of its handsets with Apple's smartphones.

And while we cannot see the entire ZTE Nubia Z7 based on the images, they certainly look like an iPhone, even for non-iPhone users.

In the report, the ZTE Nubia Z7 packs some pretty interesting specs such as a fingerprint scanner and an octa-core CPU of unknown frequency.

The new ZTE flagship device is said to make its debut later this month, and should be priced at about CNY2,700 or around $450.
