The previous Iron Man directors have given their piece on whether Robert Downey, Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4" and the results are overwhelmingly positive.

Flicks in the City talked to director Jon Favreau, primarily for his latest film "Chef." However, it was inevitable that a burning question was asked. His thoughts about Downey being Stark in another Iron Man movie:

"Well, I'm curious. I'm about to go visit the Avengers set, see what they're up to...and i think people would love to see Robert Downey [Jr] continue the Iron Man character, but, y'know, he's done it quite a bit now - I've had a few movies off, so it's a lot easier for me to say that it should be done, but, y'know, i hope he continues doing it, and as long as he fits in that suit, there's no reason he shouldn't."

As it was reported, Marvel has given Downey 50 million reasons to stick around. Still, there is no signature on the dotted line, and this is why Iron Man, Marvel Studios' most successful series so far, has yet to have a green light for its 4^th installment.

"Iron Man 3" director Shane Black had a more teasing tone when he talked to Premiere magazine (from France) and the translation:

"There has been a lot of discussion about it: 'Is this the last Iron Man for Robert?' Something tells me that it will not be the case, and will be seen in a fourth, or fifth ... But I can be a little excited..."

The context for that statement is that it was mentioned BEFORE Iron Man 3 was shown. If they were implying that they want to look at the success of the movie was a barometer, then we would definitely see RDJ in Iron Man 4. IM3 passed $ 1.3 Billion.

Perhaps Downey needs more than 50 million reasons considering what he brings to the table.
