"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is officially the Justice League prequel (as opposed to the Man of Steel sequel) if the explosive rumors are to be believed.

The rumors were from the website 'Nikkifinke.com' from former Deadline Hollywood lead reporter Nikki Finke. Her return to internet was highlighted by her announcement of the Warner-DC lineup and snippets about "BvS."

The big story is that the Flash and Green Lantern will make their appearance in the film, but it will only be cameos in an introductory role. It is also mentioned that Green Lantern will NOT be played by Ryan Reynolds (he's still attached to the stalled Deadpool movie).

There are still no names attached to the both characters, but Warner has already refuted the possibility that the CW Flash will crossover to the movie universe. We expect that there will be more speculation on this.

Meanwhile, Finke has shared the real reason behind the ten-month delay of 'Batman V Superman.' From her own site:

"If you were wondering why Batman v Superman was delayed, it wasn't the script or Ben Affleck or Jesse Eisenberg but with the fact that this pic will act as a launching pad for the Justice League. According to my source, "Like Marvel's The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern [not played by Ryan Reynolds, thank god] may be introduced.  And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn't want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge."

The rumor does make sense, and the real reason for the delay was never resolved. Warner wants to catch up with Marvel and the other studios, but they want to make sure they make a great first impression and build on the momentum. Still, this report should be taken with a grain of salt. It is expected to be announced at Comic-con in July, thus, it is not confirmed by Warner or DC.

May 6, 2016 is the release date for the film-which promises appearances from Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor,Cyborg and now Flash and Green Lantern!
