AKMU Represents Asia On Conde Nast's World Cup Playlist

With the World Cup kicking off, so are the addicting tracks. And South Korea is being represented by Akdong Musician.

AKMU's "200%" was including on Conde Nast's The Daily Traveler's World Cup playlist, along with songs from artists all over the world. Brazil, the country hosting this year's World Cup, was given special preference, but stars like Ella Fitzgerald were also included on the playlist.

However, the YG Entertainment duo is the only Asian artist represented on Conde Nast's World Cup playlist, hinting to how well-recognized the sibling pair has become since debuting only a few months ago.

The Daily Traveler's article says that the playlist "lets you travel the world without leaving your couch." It also added that the playlist offers a "healthy variety of the planet's music."

AKMU debuted on April 2 with its album PLAY, but have been popular in South Korea since their appearance on K-Pop Star 2 in 2012.

Akdong Musician released the music video for "200%" on April 6, but already over seven million people have watched the cute video. The duo's style is different from most Korean music acts and has gained a lot of international attention. "200%" being noticed by a major publication like Conde Nast is extremely exciting.

AKMU's official Facebook page shared the article, pointing out how AKMU has gained recognition not only within Korea but also internationally.

The World Cup is generally a popular event in Korea, with numerous public events thanks to dedicated South Korean fans. However, the country is still in mourning over the Sewol Ferry tragedy, so it is not expected that South Korean fans will take to the streets, as has happened during prior World Cups.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup began in Brazil on June 12, and will continue through July. South Korea will be playing its first game on June 17 against Russia.
