Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction To Dominate Box Office Through ‘Big Explosions’ – ‘I Guess I’m Just Addicted To Action,’ Director Michael Bay Says

Transformers 4 Age of Extinction is one of the highly anticipated movies this summer, and with the box office success of all the previous three movies, it's but natural for viewers to expect more from director Michael Bay.

Jon Wilde of Daily Mail was able to talk to Mark Wahlberg while shooting in Detroit after a scene from the movie where Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci's car crashed through the window of a noodle shop.

"That was kinda hairy," Wahlberg says. "We were getting properly thrown around in that car. What they didn't tell me beforehand is that the whole rig had never been tried before. No one really knew how to work it. The camera is attached to a robot arm and it's doing all these moves, but it keeps smashing into my face and chest.

"Afterwards, everyone is telling me how cool the shot looks. And I'm thinking, 'You sit in the car and see how cool it feels.'"

That's how intense and serious Michael Bay is about his movie.

The article goes on to say that while, Transformers 4 Age of Extinction's $165 million budget may have been modest compared to other action movies citing X-Men: Days Of Future Past as an example - $225 million - no director in Hollywood have spend more on major cinematic explosions than Bay.

It seems like Michael Bay had been relying on heavy explosives in selling his movies and it's quite effective, making his movies almost instantly rocketed to box office.

He even holds the record for the largest explosion used in film history, with 700 sticks of dynamite in Pearl Harbor - blowing up a fleet of navy ships.

His first three Transformers movies were no exception, and when Wilde asked Bay if he plans to break the record in Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction, the director gave out a smile.

Transformers franchise's impressive track record in the box office is a proof that the latest installment of the film is headed the same success. Previous Transformers movies earned $709.7 million, $863.3 million and $1.2 billion respectively.

"I guess I'm just addicted to action," Bay said on the interview.

"It goes back to my childhood. As a kid, I would attach firecrackers to my toy trains. They'd catch fire and I'd film it using my mum's camera. These days I do the same thing, only on a much bigger scale."

"Entourage" movie producer Mark Wahlberg, who plays the role of Cade Yeager - the lead role - an inventor who accidentally discovers a supposed "extinct" giant robot, kicks off the story of the new film. The 42-year old actor and producer will play the father of Tessa Yeager who is portrayed by "The Last Airbender" actress Nicola Peltz. In addition, Jack Reynor plays Tessa Yeager's secret love interest.

Even, Jack Reynor also agrees that the movie will be featuring major "explosions," saying:

"There's a lot of explosions all day long. A lot of loud noises. A lot of running," the 21-year old actor revealed.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction will feature actors Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, and T.J. Miller. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on June 27, 2014.
