‘X-Men Apocalypse' Plot Spoilers: Magneto Takes Revenge On Humanity? Professor X Tries To Stop Him? Where Will Wolverine Stand?

The sequel to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" which will be "X-Men: Apocalypse" will feature one of the greatest villains in the mutant world. But another focal point will be the conflict between Professor X and Magneto!

While they seem to have an uncomfortable alliance in "Days of Future Past," the lines will be drawn clear in "Apocalypse." The first mutant in history will contribute to Magneto changing his colors again, but the conflict is still within Magneto-who never really had a change of heart.

From What culture: "Having been beaten into submission and seen his ongoing quest to ensure that mutants are viewed as the superior race of humans, Magneto is ultimately allowed to leave rather than be locked up by the humans he keeps trying to kill. Clearly, this was not Xavier's smartest decision, though he was helped out by Magneto's equally odd decision to leave his helmet behind (which could perhaps by explained by Professor X not letting him take it, of course, but it wasn't explicitly shown), since the villain has a habit of licking his wounds and learning nothing."

This plotline will present a dilemma. In DOFP, the mutants needed to prevent the assassinations to save themselves, with no less than the future mutants warning them. But would they take action against a fellow mutant to save the humans-who would actually annihilate them in the future?

That was Apocalypse's gripe-why must the superior race (mutants) need to submit and get along with the humans to survive? He wants to prove that mutants should be the only inhabitants of Earth-with a Darwinian 'only the strong should live on' undertone.

Professor X is clear on this, and for the most part has won over Magneto-but what if Magneto has Apocalypse behind him? Will the mutants take his side? How about a mutant that has been used, abused and tortured like an animal by humans for almost 200 years?

Wolverine might think twice this time. Or someone might do the thinking for him: "At this stage in the film timeline, Wolverine has no idea what just happened: he's just woken up under water, with a big hole in his memory thanks to the brain vacation future Wolverine just took in his head, and we already know that he's something of a disaffected loner (based on his sweary cameo in First Class). All Mystique has to do is tell him how Xavier basically used him as a puppet, and she had to save him, and his path is set to becoming one of Apocalypse's henchmen."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be released on May 27, 2016.
