Harrison Ford's wife Calista Flockhart is flying to England to be by her husband's bedside after the Han Solo actor was injured on the set of the new Star Wars movie.

According to Harrison Ford's son, the former Indiana Jones and Once and Future Han Solo's broken ankle could need screws. Harrison's wife, Calista Flockhart, is traveling.

Ford, 71, was flown to a hospital after being hit by a spaceship door on the Star Wars film set. It was originally thought that Ford's ankle may be broken and that the action hero star may have suffered pelvic injury.

According to the studio, the spaceship door 'fell on Ford' during filming at Pinewood Studios. The producers of the new Star Wars insist that filming will go ahead as planned.

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart met at the 2002 Golden Globes. The acting couple began dating soon after. They married in 2009 and are raising Flockhart's adopted son together.

Ace Showbiz reports that the first published reports claimed that Ford broke his ankle on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, but a new report suggests the injury could have been more serious than initially suspected.

Ben Ford, Harrison's son, said that his father would possibly need a plate and screws put into his ankle.

A source told UK newspaper the Mirror "The hope is that before too long Harrison can return and film scenes from the waist up while his ankle heals."

Ford was injured days after it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII would feature the Millennium Falcon space ship, which would be piloted by Ford's character Han Solo.

The filming for the next Star Wars film will continue while Harrison Ford is treated.

Star Wars Episode VII is set 30 years after what happened in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi. Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to hit the big screen on December 18, 2015.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by JJ Abrams and the screenplay was written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan.
