Halle Berry Baby Bump Is Out of This World In New Series Extant; Malia Obama Working on New Halle Berry UFO Series

Halle Berry's new show TV series "Extant" is about aliens. Halle Berry is making the move from big screen to small in this summer's CBS television series "Extant," a new sci-fi show produced by Steven Spielberg and his Amblin Television team.

Halle Berry comes back from deep space, where she's been on a solo mission, and she's got an alien baby bump. Not just that Halle Berry's baby bump is alien to her, but it is alien to the planet.

Getting coffee for Halle on the set is the First Daughter, Malia Obama, the president's daughter, is working on the show as a production assistant. According to a report by TheWrap, Malia Obama "helped with computer shop alignments and the director also let her slate a take." Malia, 15, wants to be a filmmaker.

Halle Berry hit the Extant opening in a dazzling Jenny Packham dress. Nina Tassler, chairman of CBS Entertainment, Tassler told the crowd at the California Science Center "['Extant'] was a powerful and unique story, and we were instantly captivated when Academy Award-winner Halle Berry joined the project. Her enormous talent and presence elevated the series to a new stratosphere. Getting Halle Berry was one of the biggest coups of the year for television."

"The script was just amazing," Berry told the Los Angeles Times. "I hadn't read anything like it. And Steven Spielberg, I mean, he's the king. If you're gonna do TV about extraterrestrials and sci-fi and supernatural, I think he's a good one to do it with."

So what's an extant? "I kind of wonder the same thing. I should probably know that answer," said Annie Wersching.

Louis Gossett Jr., who plays the alcoholic father of Halle's astronaut Molly Wood, told the crowd at the Science Center, "Extant is the creation of a new being. [Molly] goes to space and comes back pregnant. She's an extant."

From executive producer Steven Spielberg, Extant is coming to CBS. Berry plays Molly Wood, Halle an astronaut who spent a year on a solo mission in outer space and comes back pregnant. Annie Wersching plays Femi Dodd, a rival of John Wood, Molly's scientist husband, played by Goran Visnjic. Michael O'Neill plays Alan Sparks, the head of the international space exploration agency.
