Mark Ruffalo Says Marvel Is Considering New Hulk Movie [PHOTO]

The Hulk is one of the Marvel's universe most beloved characters, but that shockingly hasn't translated to successful Hulk movies in the past. All that may change soon, according to Mark Ruffalo, who revealed to Digital Spy that a Hulk movie may be in the works.

It would appear so. Chatting with Digital Spy, Mark Ruffalo said "I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it. When we did 'The Avengers' it was basically 'No!', and now there is some consideration for it," he said. "But there's still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut."

Mark Ruffalo is referring to the fact that previous Hulk movies have been flops at the box office, but that was before "The Avengers" went and changed the game. Oscar winning director Ang Lee wasn't able to do well box office with his and Eric Bana's take on the character, and Louis Leterrier tried again in 2008 with the help of Ed Norton. Ruffalo has played the latest incarnation of the Hulk in the Avengers series, and has been successful, but that may or may not translate into a Hulk movie.

Thor: The Dark World is about to cross the $600 million mark, marking the success of the post-Avengers Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iron Man 3 broke records around the world this summer with its $1.2 billion haul. The following two years already have three sequels and a movie fourth introducing the character in Ant-Man.

Kevin Jagernauth of indiwire.com, says, "the question isn't whether Marvel will make another Hulk movie, it's if this is a good idea to begin with. What made Hulk so effective in "The Avengers" was that he was served out in perfect portions. Every time he went green, it was a special occasion, one that Whedon utilized for maximum action and comedic value. The problem with giving Hulk a full length movie is that you dilute the effectiveness every time he gets mad enough to smash stuff. And while the character is interesting, let's face it, no one wants to see a Hulk movie to witness his inner turmoil. "

Joss Whedon, director of the Avengers, has even weighed in on the problem at the Glasgow Film Festival, saying, "Yes, But it would be very, very hard. Hulk is a trick son of a bitch. He's the Claudio of superheroes. Because the problem is that it's a very popular character, but it's not a superhero. Half of it's a superhero, half of it's a werewolf. And you can't structure it like a superhero movie, you can't light it like a superhero movie. How do you develop that? It would be extremely difficult. The one thing you would have in your favor would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don't know if hay have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole, but by himself, it's tough. I don't envy the guys who went before."
