Australian androgynous model Andrej Pejic is the first official cast member of the 'Little Mermaid' movie 2015 reboot. The 22-year-old fashion icon is born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and prefers to be addressed using the pronoun "she."

Pejic is known for her adventurous magazine covers and runway shows. Her role in the film isn't known yet although many are speculating that she'll be one of the mermaids. Daily Mail reports that Pejic will be playing Ariel's sister number four.

On the other hand, Emma Watson is rumored to play the lead role of Ariel in Sofia Coppola's film adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairytale. In April 2013, Emma Watson as Ariel news surfaced on MuggleNet:

"Emma was seen leaving an aquatics facility this past weekend in Los Angeles. We can only assume that this means she has started training for her role as Ariel. Yes, training. As this is a live action film, Emma must take on several aquatic disciplines including SCUBA-diving, synchronized swimming, and diving."

The report, however, turned out to be an April Fool's Day joke. Apart from the British beauty, 'Pitch Perfect' star Anna Kendricks is also rumored to be the film's heroine.

As per reports, the 'Little Mermaid' movie 2015 reboot will have a darker plot than the classic version. Prior to being chosen for the underwater fantasy film, Pejic already starred in several films including 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight),' 'Faith,' and 'Reason.' She was also named as one of OUT magazine's "100 Most Compelling People" in 2011.

In a previous interview with Vogue UK, Pejic talked about her gender: "I know people want me to sort of defend myself, to sit here and be like, 'I'm a boy, but I wear makeup sometimes.' But, you know, to me, it doesn't really matter. I don't really have that sort of strong gender identity - I identify as what I am. The fact that people are using it for creative or marketing purposes, it's just kind of like having a skill and using it to earn money."
