"There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. ... " Classic 1960's science fiction anthology "The Outer Limits" will be getting a movie, written and directed by Scott Derrickson.

Derrickson's will be working with "Sinister" co-writer C. Robert Cargill for the project. They have chosen to adapt Harlan Ellison's 1964 "Outer Limits" episode, "Demon With a Glass Hand." Derrickson is a longtime fan of the show, and has said he prefers it to "The Twilight Zone."

The man is being hunted by an alien race who see him as key to their survival, but he soon discovers a more complex and terrifying truth.

MGM's president Jonathan Glickman and executive VP of production Adam Rosenberg will oversee the project for the studio.

Scott Derrickson has also recently been named the Doctor Strange director. Derrickson also wrote, along with Cargill, "Sinister 2," the sequel to the hit 2012 horror movie that was one of the most profitable movies the year it was released.

"Outer Limits" anthology sci-fi and horror show that ran on ABC from 1963 to 1965, it was the main competition for "The Twilight Zone." Joseph Stefano, Robert Towne, and Harlan Ellison were writers who wrote the original show, which was revived briefly on Showtime and the Sci-Fi Channel in the late 90's.
