Uber To Offer Rides From Optimous Prime: Drive Home In A Real Life Transformers Truck (Warning: Does Not Actually Transform Into Giant Robot) [PHOTO]

Autobots Rollout! Ever wanted to use some magical device to call a sentient transforming robot from outer space to come pick you up at the bar because you had a few too many? Well now you can! Uber will be using the truck version of Optimus Prime from "Transformers: Age of Extinction" to pick people up and drive them home.

The offer is part of a promotional package for "Transformers Age of Extinction" which premiers June 27. The Michael Bay explosiongasm features sound design from Skrillex, and multiple product tie ins, including an Angry Birds game. For three days from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Uber users in Dallas (June 16), Phoenix (June 19) and Los Angeles (June 21) will be able to summon Optimus Prime for a ride. Trips are limited to 15 minutes.

"There's only one Optimus Prime, so making contact will be difficult and may take many tries. But don't give up!" Uber writes on its blog.

"If you see him on the map, click fast," said Gabe Williams, Uber's community manager for the Southwest.

With just one city remaining in this publicity tour, those who want to get a ride in Optimus Prime are directed to select the Autobots option upon opening the Uber app, tap "set pickup location," and then tap "roll out!"

Lisa Baker of Pheonix said, "It's so cool to see him here," she said. "I'd never heard of Uber before so I guess this was a good way for them to get the word out."

Optimus Prime was a Peterbilt truck for the first three films, but has been swapped for the larger Western Star truck with an aerodynamic design.

Sadly the truck does not actually transform into a giant robot years ahead of any technology that exists on earth. Thats a few dozen Transformers movies down the line.
