The lead actor of the "Thor" franchise, Chris Hemsworth has been tapped as the star of a reboot of the incredible "Lethal Weapon" series. They also have a master action director in Justin Lin.

The report was broken by Tracking Board, and other sites that carried the news advised their readers to 'take a tremendous amount of skeptic salt' (Cinema Blend) as the site is not known for its accuracy and no other information from any other source came about.

Nevertheless, the report from Tracking Board:

"I have confirmation that Chris Hemsworth has been offered a starring role in the Warner Brothers reboot of 'Lethal Weapon,' currently titled LIONHUNTERS. Rumors about the sequel's plot have swarmed for years, and many wondered whether the series would get a complete remake, or just continue where the fourth installment left off. It appears as if the answer is a mix of both - as reports indicate the recent version of the script centers on the desires of an older cop's son (presumably Riggs') and his wishes to join the police force."

The project is apparently linked to Justin Lin, the director of "Fast and Furious 6." He recently handed over the reins of the franchise to Horror maestro James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious). Joel Silver will still produce and Shane Black, the original writer fresh from directing "Iron Man 3" will pen the script.

Sounds like a dream project, and Cinema Blend warns that it's exactly that: A dream.

"Chris Hemsworth doesn't need to bother with a franchise like Lethal Weapon, given the fact that he's in the Marvel fold as both Thor(which plans to shoot a third movie) and The Avengers, which is filming a second movie. Justin Lin reportedly is attached to direct this rumored Lethal Weapon movie, but he also has a Bourne movie on his radar. "

Still, Hollywood has already rebooted "Robocop" and "Beverly Hills Cop" and this movie would be more promising. Also, "Lethal Weapon 4" ended 16 years ago with Riggs (Mel Gibson) having a baby with Rene Russo.
