The Boss meeting the media in their maiden visit to Malaysia

The sun is out and it's the season again. Get your sunglasses on as we are welcoming another Korean boyband to Malaysia in this hot and blazing summer. Formed in 2010 under Open World Entertainment, The Boss, often referred to as DGNA or Dae Guk Nam Ah in South Korea (literally means 'The Boys of Super Space'). This five-membered group led by Mika consists of members named Karam, Hyunmin, Injun and Jay. Walked down the memory lane to their debut date on 4 March 2010 singing to Admiring Boy, The Boss managed to grab fans' attention, gaining more than 40,000 members of their fancafes within a short period of time.

In 2011, the group aimed to spread their wings wider as they started to promote their music in Japan with their Love Series singles entitled 'Love Power', 'Love Bingo' and 'Love Parade'. Step by step, they climbing up the ladder of fame in Japan till they were nicknamed as 'K-pop re-exported from Japan' every time when they were back in their homeland, South Korea due to the 'Japan-First, Korea-Later' marketing strategy which they adopt. Nevertheless, the group successfully bagged some prestigious awards to include the Best Newcomer Award in the 20th Seoul Music Award and the Best Stage Performance Award in the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival (HKAMF).

In this maiden visit to Malaysia, packed schedule already waiting for The Boss starting off from 17-23 June, whereby they will hold their showcase in three different cities. Looks like they are more than ready to charm Malaysian fans. Speaking to the media on 18 June, the member of The Boss, Injun felt shocked but grateful at the same time to see the warm welcome from the fans especially upon their arrival at the airport.

Visiting new country with new culture and variety things to be explored, The Boss was eager to show their interest towards Malaysia starting of with... food. Hyunmin quickly answered ais kacang, nasi lemak and satay were among the Malaysian delicacies which he would like to try while Injun confessed that he liked everything. Another topic that sparked media's attention was their knowledge on Malay language. It's normal to learn basic greeting when you started learning new languages but nothing can beat Karam's answer as the phrase 'Saya nak kencing' ('I want to pee') came out from his mouth. I must say that was a genius of him to learn such an important phrase resulted to everyone's laugh.

This five handsomely lads are not just about looks. They were musically talented too as Karam praised Hyunmin who is very good in composing and writing songs. Hyunmin on the other hands jokingly replied, due to his big brain, it might be the reason why he is the most talented among them and to a certain extent, clever. They further stated that they hoped to collaborate with their senior, the King of Romantic Ballad, Jo Sungmo but for their love towards the ballad genre. Hyunmin also added that he would love to collaborate with the Malaysia's no 1 Singing Queen, Dato Siti Nurhaliza if he was given the opportunity for future collaboration.

As sneak peak on what to expect for their showcase, The Boss performed the acapella version of 'The Opera' while Jay and Injun both performed short dance and beatbox. Karam, being the dorky one, showed off his personal talent by imitation the dogs' sounds which to the audience surprise, sounded similar as if the animal were there in the hall room. Before wrapping up the interview, Hyunmin stated if there's one thing about Korea that he would like to introduce, he wanted to introduce their music and their next album and further recommended to fans to visit Shinsadong. Injun added that the group also hope to showcase their music and share it with Malaysian fans, and they promised to come back to Malaysia so long the fans will continue to support them and promise to come and watch their show in the future.
