‘Deadpool Movie’ Rumors: Ant-Man Former Director Edgar Wright Proposed As Director! R-Rated Action-Comedy The Best For Merc With A Mouth!

The 'Deadpool' movie is still on the conceptual stage, but the claim is that Fox is not giving up the rights to the Merc with a mouth. One of the best suggestions for the movie is to acquire Edgar Wright as director.

Edgar Wright is the director associated with the "Ant-Man" movie that now belongs to Peyton Reed. For the longest time, "Ant-Man" was Wright's 'baby' with his script and his concept. As the cast began to unfold (Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Patrick Wilson and Evangeline Lilly among others), Wright suddenly withdrew from the franchise due to creative differences.

Wright's credentials, specifically for 'The Cornetto Trilogy' made him the frontrunner for the film, which Marvel was determined to present as a comedy.

The same concept of a heist/crime gone horribly wrong would be the best bet for a Deadpool movie. As proposed by Moviepilot:

"He (Wright) is more than incredible with leading a comedic/action feature. Not to mention, he has won eight awards and twenty nominations, which is a good sign and gives us confidence that he can deliver us a goodDeadpool movie."

The other question is whether it should be an R-Rated movie. While superhero movies are built on the younger audience, it is safe to say that Deadpool should be placed in his own category:

"The important question that comes when making a Deadpool movie is if a R-rating would be best for the film itself. And the answer is: Yes. It's obvious. Without the grittiness and dark humor of Deadpool, he just looks like a competitive moron with a clean name. And that is definitely not Wade Wilson. This character needs the dark humor, the grittiness, everything that Edgar Wright movie would have. The movie is currently being rebooted entirely with a restricted rated script, so we can only hope for the best that we can get an accurate portrayal of Deadpool."

This is, of course, just a fan proposal but it makes a very important point: Edgar Wright could do more for Deadpool what he could've done with Ant-Man. Marvel's loss could be Fox's gain, if they realize this.
