‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Cast Rumors: Scoot McNairy As Robin? ‘Non-Stop’ Star Was Affleck Pal In 'Argo!' Will They Reunite As Dynamic Duo?

The cast for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is hardly complete since it has already been tagged as the introduction to the Justice League. Thus, more characters need to be cast, and Scoot McNairy may fill one of those slots.

Based on previous reports, the known characters in the DC Cinematic Universe are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, The Flash and Green Lantern. So far, only The Flash and Green Lantern have no names attached to it. While there are numerous actors floating on the rumor mill for these two characters (except for Ryan Reynolds who has been declared out of the running and the CW Flash also ruled out), no name has stuck unlike the others.

Now we have Scoot McNairy-an up and coming actor whom you have probably seen. He was recently seen in the TV Series "Halt and Catch Fire" and was also the villain in Liam Neeson's "Non-Stop." He has even worked for Marvel, playing Jackson Norris in Marvel's short film "All Hail the King" where he interviewed Sir Ben Kingsley (as Trevor Slattery).

His next project has him reuniting with Ben Affleck in "Gone Girl" to be helmed by David Fincher. He has co-starred with Affleck in "Argo."

Deadline and The Wrap has confirmed his participation in the Warner Bros. tentpole film. Deadline says: "Versatile actor Scoot McNairy is joining Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, though nobody at Warner Bros will confirm it or tell us what the role is."

The Wrap echoes the sentiment: "An insider told The Wrap they were "sworn to secrecy" regarding McNairy's role, thus confirming his involvement with the project, though a representative for Warner Bros. declined to comment."

Since there is no confirmation of the role, we are left to speculate. Green Lantern was a popular pick, but there are some observers who believe that McNairy's affiliation with Affleck could translate into a role that's 'closer' to Batman-you guessed it, Robin/Nightwing!

Screenrant ponders: "Is it possible that Snyder and executive producer Christopher Nolan were waiting until they had their Batman cast to seek advice from the caped crusader himself? That decision-making is rarely left to an actor, but we now know that Affleck was long courted for the role, and his experience as a director and actor (alongside McNairy, among others) would offer valuable insight."

If Affleck will be given the reins to his own Batman movie, he would definitely choose proven actors that he's worked with. But that is purely speculation, and Warner/DC may have reveals at San Diego Comic Con.
