‘WarGames’ Movie Remake To Star Ansel Elgort? Can ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ Actor Give Justice To A Teenage Hacker’s Role?

Silver screen rumors are circulating that 'Fault in Our Stars' actor Ansel Elgort is vying for the lead role in the 'WarGames' movie remake. Apart from the New York-born actor, Tye Sheridan of 'Mud' is also reportedly shortlisted for the role.

'WarGames' first came out in 1983 with Matthew Brocker as its actor. The film follows the life of a teenage computer whiz who unknowingly gets access into a military supercomputer which has a control over America's nuclear arsenal. The supercomputer then challenges him to a game.

However, the game is far from ordinary as it is between America and Russia. The countdown to World War 3 eventually begins. How will the teenager convince the supercomputer that he merely wants to play a virtual game and not spearhead the world's destruction?

As per The Wrap, Dean Israelite of 'Project Almanac' might be directing the MGM-produced film. Arash Amel, who penned 'Grace of Monaco,' has been tasked to write the 'WarGames' movie remake screenplay.

Both Elgort and Sheridan are occupied with their filming commitments. Following the success of 'The Fault in Our Stars,' Elgort has been busy shooting for 'Insurgent,' the sequel to Summit Entertainment's 'Divergent' series. He has likewise landed a role in the upcoming biopic drama about the late Russian pianist Van Cliburn.

Sheridan, on the other hand, is currently filming for horror-comedy flick 'Scouts vs. Zombies.' Some of his upcoming flicks also include 'The Desert,' 'Dark Places,' 'The Forger and Last Days,' and 'Grass Stains.' He is also rumored to star opposite Chloe Moretz in the film adaptation of 'The 5th Wave.'

Who will give justice to a teenage hacker's role - Elgort or Sheridan?
