A brand new teaser trailer has been unleashed for "Doctor Who" season 8, and renewed attention is being centered on Peter Capaldi.

"The BBC has today confirmed the much-anticipated eighth series of the hit sci-fi drama Doctor Who will land on BBC One on Saturday 23 August, 2014," says the official BBC press release.

"The feature-length premiere episode entitled 'Deep Breath' will see Peter Capaldi take on one of TV’s most iconic roles as the Twelfth Doctor, alongside Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara."

Some Whovians have spotted what appears to be a wedding ring on the Doctor's finger.

"Has it been pointed out the Doctor seems to be wearing a wedding ring?" asked Htershane72 on Doctor Who TV.

"Peter Capaldi never takes his wedding ring off. Which is nice of course, but I hope some reason is given for it in 'Doctor Who,'" commented Ollie Walton on June 29.
