News has just leaked that this year's MacBook Air Retina display will be released in December for the holiday season. That being said, there have been contradictory reports that the MacBook Air Retina Display will actually launch in September. There is still no price tag.

The 2014 MacBook Air Retina is expected to be even smaller, with a higher pixel resolution compared to its predecessor. The new model will be released as soon as all the old ones are sold off, Apple slashed the price of the older model by $100 dollars.

It was initially speculated that the next generation of Apple's laptop will be launched on the third quarter. However, latest whispers claimed that the device will be launched in December.

According to DigiTimes, Qanta Computer will be in charge of the production of the 12-inch MacBook Air. The report also said that the new device will retain the design of the current MacBook Air with only slight changes will be applied on the upcoming model in order to accommodate the alterations to be made in the internal structures as well as the battery.

According to Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the 12-inch model is a combination of 11-inch portability and 13-inch model's performance. Some of the key features of the upcoming MacBook Air are: 12-inch monitor with 2K screen resolution; 1.35kg; 128GB or 256GB SSD; 1.4GHz Intel Core i5; 4GB RAM; 2x USB 3.0; Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt 2.0; Memory card reader; 720p FaceTime camera. On the other hand, Apple slipped the updated 13-inch MacBook Air last month. The revamped models feature a slight bump on its processor from 1.3GHz to 1.4GHz. Moreover, the model boasts a battery capacity of up to 12 hours.

The Cupertino tech giant is said to be working with Intel to produce Broadwell, a brand new processor targeted to run inside the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2014. Currently, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are currently running on Haswell Intel Core i5 chipsets, giving Apple laptops an advantage in affordability.

In a related report by Apple Insider, Intel is planning to replace Qualcomm processors installed on iPhone units especially since Apple is building a solid partnership with the systems provider.

The upcoming MacBook will still come with a CD/DVD drive, which has actually become obsolete for fans of downloadable content. It is expected that all Apple devices in 2015, including iPhone, will be running on Haswell chipsets, making them the fastest and lightest gadgets to be built thus far.
